The most dangerous thing about these dogs (and similar breeds) is that their puppies look like the cutest little plush toys. Unfortunately these cute plushies grow into huge bears.

I was ten years old and slept every night in my bed with a 170 lb Anatolian. Kindest dog I’ve ever met.

My girl is an Anatolian Shepard, and she is like no other dog I've ever had before! She was an owner surrender, and I've had to work hard to get her anxiety under control. She is fascinating, and incredibly intelligent! She's my love!

A bit of context, the land that turkey is now is called Anatolia

My Anatolion Shepard is a great Guardian for me and my Scottish Highland Beef cattle. He's on duty night and day.

I had an Anatolian Shepard/Boxer-sharpei mix named Murphy. To be fair, I was TOLD the father was Anatolian, but I never got dna checked. Murphy was about 85 lbs, short red brown coat with a white chest. He had a shepard face, not the stumpy boxer face. Had the body of a boxer, but super bulky. Now the best part...Murphy was incredibly squishy. He had the skin of a char-pei, but not the wrinkles. Its like his skin was made out of elastic. Aaaaand he was an absolute goofball dog. Not a mean thing about him. Luckily, he had the temperament of the boxer part of him. I miss that pooch. There will never be another dog like him.

omg I just met my first Anatolian Shepherd a couple weeks ago! Hadn't ever heard of them before. Torq was the cuddliest boy I've sat so far. He's 11 and has arthritis but was just so big and loving. I hope I get to sit him again he was so sweet.
UPDATE: I get to sit Torq again!! I can't wait to give that giant head some good scritches ☺

Mine has the sturdiest and most reliable temperament that I have ever observed in a dog. The most gentle and patient with small children and young livestock. Very interested in causing problems with stranger though.

To be fair, Anatolian Shepherds (Also known as Turkish Kangals) share ancestry with an even older dog breed known as the Turkish Boz. They’re a little bit bigger, but basically identical. These depictions could be either of these breeds, or their ancestors.

There’s Kangals, boz, and malakli sheperds, Anatolian refers to this category but the individuals in the category of Anatolian are the three listed above, an Anatolian mix is usually a mix of those 3 above

They're basically cousins of Alabai. And Anatolian Shepherd is a a general name. There are different kinds of them. Malakli is the biggest one, kangal is the most popular one and there are more. Believe me they're great friends.

It’s kind of hard for me to tell the difference between the Anatolian Shepard and the Kangal. They look very similar
