World's Worst '68 Dodge Charger Update - Long way to go but progress nonetheless

There's something really cool about sought after muscle cars in absolutely abysmal condition being brought back from the dead to spite the purists.

Since I was a child I needed a '68 Charger. Idk what it is about that car in particular but it was set in stone almost instantly that one day I'd own one. Well technically now I do. Cars like these deserve more than to sit in the woods and rot back into the earth. If something is unrestorable, so what. Make it into a conversation piece to bring out to your local events. They aren't making any more of 'em. Save what you can while you can.

Kudos to you sir
Glad you saved it gentleman like you is because duct tape drags took off
FYI the general Lee they jump and destroy is a crown Vic with new sheet metal on top
I say it’s possible to achieve a dream
For me I’m going to get a modern challenger and mount a cuda sheet metal on it
1 fender at a time. New rollover Camaro go for 2k. Crown Vic go for beer money
It’s possible

This trend of saving destroyed cars just to have fun is entertaining. I kinda hope the prices of the good cars will trend downwards in my lifetime. I bought a fairly straight 63 Impala 2D HT in 99. The drivers floor was rotten but was last tagged in the mid-70s. I tore it apart but gave up and sold it. Still regret it.

Doing kinda the same thing with a 69 charger that we picked up ftom a wrecking yard in arizona about 4 urs ago. When we got it the only body panel left on it was the passenger quarter panel. Fortunatly being from arizona the frame- the roof and inner fenders are very good. It was originally an hp 383 car with ac. We have been buying parts for it that also need work like rusty fenders and doors. A hood that had an engine fire under it. Got the correct year and month engine and trans out of a 64 chrysler that a guy was getting rid of because he wanted the correct engine for the 64. It takes lots of searching to find some cheaper parts as long as you are willing and can repair parts that might not be in great shape. In fact last summer i was driving by an old yard and saw what was left of a 68 or 69 charger with some other cars getting staged to be crushed. Talked to the owner of the yard about it and he said if i could cut the panel off right where its at i could have it for $50. It does need to be straightnd a little but will actually be a fairly easy fix. And eventhough the roof was partially gone it still had the headliner bows in it and i got thise thrown in with the rear quarter. Some of thes parts are still out there if you look hard enough. Still looking for a rear tail panel for a 69. My son and i are going to do a complete restoration on this car on as little of a budget as we can possibly do it. And hope to be able to to drive it for many years.

That copper Charger that was used for erosion control, that's near Palmer isn't it? I guess you already got the door, cleaned off the spray paint.

This is fucking awesome! I've been searching for a car in thisi condition for making it run ever since I saw Roadkill driving the Plymouth C-body. Well done sir. 🍻

I agree, these have become stupid money, even worse when a clone sells for more than an original car. There's a few cars I'd love to own but this condition is what I would settle with. If nothing else, you are still preserving it, maybe someday far off it will get rebuilt. Nice thing is, if you get it just operational, you can at least have fun around the yard. Can't do that with a six figure Charger that lives in a trailer. I'm sure you know of Chris Birdsong on yt, he's not afraid to drive a shell.

That car is 100% restorable! Can you afford to do it? Maybe not i probably couldn't either but it is definitely restorable!

I think you need a frame machine. I wonder if you can find one used or make one.
