This is a dangerous time, because Xi would like public support for having a third term. With the Chinese economy failing, the risk is that Xi may resort to military adventurism to drum up the support he desires. The Taiwan issue looms large, and 90% of the planet’s supply of advanced semiconductors is on the table.

In China, almost all tax revenue goes to the federal level (CCP), provincial government makes money by selling land leases.
Now that the bubble is bursting, provincial government simply does not have the money to save themselves.

And CCP can't save them either, after splurging their money on the Belt and Road program. They will have to QE and inflate away this mess, and that's incredibly risky to do right before the national congress date.

Enda speaks of unemployment being 20%, while onscreen the official government-number is 5.4%, that says it all about the reliability of statistics coming out of China. To fix any problem, you start by recognising it exists, not by continuing to cover it up !

This is very significant, in terms of Li’s verbiage. After Xi promised the BRICS that 5% GDP growth would be achieved using forceful stimulus, Li had contradicted Xi, saying that forceful measures would not be used. Now Li seems to be giving Xi less resistance. This may indicate politics around the upcoming Party Congress in the fall. Li seems to be falling in line to support Xi.
