My 7 month old daughter needed surgery on her intestines because of something called intussusception. It was a life saving surgery. I didn't have the money to pay, and still don't. They send me a bill every couple of monthes and it always gets ignored

In america, if you can't pay hospital bills, you just don't, shure you can't borrow money anymore, but the hospital can't legally deny you emergency medical treatment or sue you for everything you own.

This actually happened to me once. I received a medical bill for like, $150. When I called and asked if I could pay in installments, the person on the phone just said, "It's okay, I'll just waive the bill for you."

So when it comes to medical they can do what they normally do of sending your fees to collections but after like 7 years of not paying the fees will be dropped (yes I know this from personal use of this loophole from a 5k+ bill over like 5 years and they finally gave up xD) and if you have ANY medical issues you can't get refused medical aid from a hospital so basically you can rack up as much debt as needed medically and never have to really pay it.

He is actually quite correct. Medical bills under $500 no longer are considered by credit agencies as of 7/1/2023

Unpaid medical bills is a win win, it's overpriced anyway, the insurance doesn't have to dish out money, and the hospital gets to evade tax a little

Imagine looking up “medics visits under $100” and trusting a Reddit thread to keep you out of health insurance trouble

Some insider info. If you have a debt that goes to collections that is under a $100 it’s financially not worth it to pursue but they damn well are keeping that debt on file so when they get another one under your name you will now have to pay both.
