Boss bought a couple of these with the intentions of utilizing the live tooling to eliminate multiple processes. When he got the quote for all the live tooling coming in around the cost of one of the machines, he about had a stroke. Needless to say, we've never utilized the live tooling on these two okumas.

The shop i did my apprenticeship at had a couple okuma mills. And a spaceturn lathe. Out of all the brands I've ran in my career. They are the most repeatable, accurate cnc machining centers. They have a weird language. But they are work horses.

I want to work on Okuma machines but there are none near me. I searched. Many Mazak, DMG, Nakamura, Biglia, and currently on a great modern Doosan making tons of $ for someone else. But man I'm just aiming for the Okuma.

Have you had any issues with y axis milling ovals instead of a circle. And when we try square and hex they are off center/undersize. Need help. 😢. I know we can set new positions while indicating the tools but they dont seem to be fixing the oblong holes.
