I visited the UK for the first time when I was 18 for a holiday and to study English for two weeks. I was so anxious. I guess the officers are smart enough and well-trained to identify the person of interest who would have the potential to overstay or commit crimes. I remember when I applied for the UK visa I was so worried and when I arrived at Heathrow Airport, I was so anxious, but the officers calmed me down and helped me to find my way. I haven't been questioned like those people. It was such a good experience. I decided to study again in the UK when I was 24 and I stayed 2 years between Sunderland and Newcastle. I have to say my experience was amazing! I've visited all cities and I enjoyed my stay and now almost 10 years I have lived in New Zealand. When I arrived in New Zealand I had £6000 and Immigration asked me if I had anything to declare, I answered very honestly and said this money in £ not NZD so I don't know if I should claim it. she calculated that it was more than NZD10, 000 so she took me to another place where I sit and fill a form of where this money came from. I answered the questions and they allowed me to enter. It was such an easy-breezy straightforward process. I believe it is very important, to be honest, and don't play games because you'll be caught one day. I haven't seen anyone go away with his/her lies.

"Do you know where your passport is?"
"If I did I would not tell you."
Good answer. Not an ideal answer but a good one.

The older I get the more I appreciate the fact that I won the "born in a first world" lottery. It is something I wake up every day and give thanks for.

The young lady from SA just saddened me, I totally get why she would want to leave, we made the decision to leave Cape Town 17 years ago and headed to New Zealand, never looked back and never regretted our decision. Hope all works out for her.❤️

I can’t wait to travel to the UK for the first time and watching videos like this help a lot to prepare. Passport ready, round trip ticket ready, itinerary ready, hotel reservation ready and credit card with enough funds. I’m not taking any chances with immigration 🤣

I watched a UK show once when the officer asked a man, "Are you under the impression that I have to believe you unless I can prove you're lying." The guy looks kind of smug and says, "Yes" The officer then told him, "I don 't have to prove you're lying, you have to prove you're telling the truth." The guys mouth fell open. It was priceless.

“ you have to believe me, I’m not lying this time” then said “ I’ve been staying at home the last eight months”

I know what it is to be an international student, and a minor, traveling alone to another country and getting sent for additional questioning for forgetting a document you were supposed to bring. My very first “grown-up” lesson was unforgettable, luckily I wasn’t sent back,

Lying about your college degree or admission to a border officer can result in severe criminal offences and denial of entry into the country.

I am not sympathetic to liars. I've known a lot in my life and they think nothing of lying about everything. Their life goes nowhere, they blame
everybody else for their problems and this pattern goes well into their 50's and 60's. They are not worth talking to.
