When a sexual assault charge is proven a lie how does one go about punishing the liar? Will the courts do their God damn job and punish them for public mischief and perjury? Or will I have to wait further years for justice to be done?

Can you sue the victim for defamation after wrongful accusation?

I have to take exception with much of this presentation. Everyone now knows that the memory of a sexual assault victim is impaired due to the brains built in defense mechanisms. The same is true for the inability to place events into an orderly fashion. For the assault victim, the time frame in which an assault takes place is fragmented, and the story is often told accordingly, in disorganized bits and pieces. So well understood are these two phenomena, which arise from the most recent scientific understandings of how the brain and trauma work together.... that if a plaintiff DOES remember everything, and if the plaintiff CAN tell a linear narrative, then that is a possible reason to doubt their story. Just the opposite of past thinking. Many investigators specifically look for memory lapse, and fragmentation of narrative to corroborate a victims story. You ought to know this.
I grant you your professional choice to defend the accused, but please get yourself up to date on the realities of trauma and neurobiology and please don't put forth these issues that cast harmful doubt for others to buy into. Retraumatization within the "system" is very real. Please don't be a part of that.
