Z80 breadboard minicomputer - TMS9918A Hello World

After a couple of tries (the first test was a failure, due to the fact that I forgot to reverse the order of the data bus towards the TMS), I've finally managed to interface the TMS9918A graphic chip to my Z80 minicomputer, making the classical 'Hello World' message to be displayed on my Commodore 1701 monitor for a more realistic retrocomputing experience!

The TMS9918A is a staple of many classic computers of the '80, like the TI99/4A, the MSX series, and less known models like the Memotech MTX.

The control logic allows switching between the two VRAM banks, simply writing on a dedicated I/O port, allowing page buffering for fast animations, or other interesting graphic effects.

Boy ya gotta love these videos where people post 40 seconds of some tech working and you can't find any information on how it worked. Thanks!

Wow, your breadboard looks much neater than mine when I prototype. Nice work.

Hello, can you show the codes you used with the TMS9918?
