Platanias (Πλατανιάς in Greek) is a coastal village in the north east of the Greek island of Crete. Platanias is located 10 km in the east of the city of the city of Chania. The village has a population of 1,000 citizens. Platanias is part of the Gerani Prefecture together with the neighboring village of Agia Marina, Kolymvari (Κολυμβάρι), Mousouroi (Μουσούροι) and Voukolies (Βουκολιές). The city hall is also located in Gerani. Platanias has a long sandy beach and some remarkable 5 star resorts. Also because of its proximity to the beautiful city of Chania and to the crystal clear beaches of Western Crete it makes it a very popular holiday resort on Crete.
