The Mazda 3 has a sloppy shifter, and I definitely needed to fix it. This is how I fixed the sloppy shifter in my Mazda 3. Always look for points where your shifter cables connect and judge if there is any excessive movement in the shifter that'll make it feel sloppy.

That moment when you get to use something new to fix something is a great feeling.

I'll just offer this one tip if the cable ever feels tight again or not as smooth to shift. In mine the Cable wouldn't allow me to go in park and I looked online and one dude basically said to lube up the cables that go to the shifter (If be in them rubber pieces you saw at 4:00 mark). Ever since doing that it's been smooth as butter to shift

My 2010 doing similar shenanigans, definitely rust contributes to it.

Maybe solid shifter bushings would help but it feels stiff already in the shifter.

Awesome job I have the opposite problem my shifter is really hard to move not sure what’s wrong I was told the cables need to be cleaned with some d40 ? Who knows

Was thinking about removing the muffler on my 2006 3 hatch (2.0). Is there a difference in the exhaust system between the US / Canadian and the European market that you know of? Or should I just go for it and hope for the best? Can't really find any info online about it.
