I've heard this stupid argument my entire life and it is never going to go away UNLESS it is really resolved.

I have an idea for how to do that. Design government employee NET-WORTH (not income) around where the bottom 50% (or percentage to be determined) of the population is in terms of net-worth or income or something between those.

In other words tie the net-worth of all government employees (no exceptions) to the net-worth (or TBD) to the bottom 50% of the society.

You watch how fast that resolves the disparity argument... And BTW, I would get rid of all price controls on labor. In other words no minimum wage, no welfare, no handouts, no subsidies.

Also, I don't know what the exact formula should be, I just know that politicians and government employees are in general, thieves. Well here is how you fix two birds with one stone. It is just the details of the formula that have to be worked out.

Let’s see, the gap between the top 10%and the bottom 10% has widened. That means the group in the middle, the people between the top and the bottom, ie the middle class, has expanded. Hasn’t that been a goal of governments around the world for generations?

Large wealth gap is harmful to the entire society, that's common sense in economics. Thatcher seems got no knowledge on economics.

Poors and rich should be richer and richer. But the poor-rich gap should be watched, whatever the intrinsic qualities of each human, the gap should be quite reasonable. We've gone too far.
