Chasing Balloons

My song ‘Chasing Balloons’ was based on a chance occurrence while visiting Paris in 2018. My then GF and I were walking around #tuileriesgarden enjoying the awesome beauty of this amazing spot. Coming down Allèe Centrale, walking toward @thelouvremuseum we came across a group of small kids running back and forth just having fun. Upon walking and getting closer to them, we noticed that they were chasing a helium balloon around. It had just enough helium to catch some air and then slowly begin falling back to the Earth again. A momentary moment of weightlessness. I watched them for a few minutes with a smile on my face being bombarded with how cool this moment was. Watching kids having no cares and chasing a balloon in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Being human and reflecting on the metaphor of the balloon. All kinds of stuff.
When the main riff of this song decided it wanted to be introduced to the world, it brought me right back to that moment in #paris so I knew it had to be named after it, somehow.
When recording the song, I had the idea of putting in the ‘Say Hello’ part based on some video that I had of my daughter @gracenesbitt_ and I when she was three. It fit perfectly. It’s different and unusual but based on the origin of the song itself, it made perfect sense and I actually got emotional hearing it in there the first time. So there we have it, ‘Chasing Balloons’ - the origin story. Single to be released in three weeks.
A very sincere to Mark Hopkins for bringing his amazing musicality and bass skills to the song. A perfect top off to one of my favorite songs.
