Both "rise" and "raise" are verbs.

And they both are used to talk about increase.

So what's the difference?

It's in the sentence structure and grammar you need to form a complete sentence.

Raise is a transitive verb, which means it requires a direct object.

This means the sentence structure is: Something raises something.

Rise is an intransitive verb, which means it DOESN'T requires a direct object.

This means the sentence structure is: Something rises.
