yeah, I’m American and many do exactly what you say with their shoes (and a lot more). It’s maddening. I was taught everything has its place by my Grandmother, my wife was taught by her Mom and Dad. The punchline: my Grandma is a daughter of first generation American from Germany AND her parents lived next door to first generation Americans from … GERMANY!, who her parents modeled for household organization of their 9-children…😂😂😂

Yeah, that has little to do with nationality and more to do with neurodiversity. I'm ADHD and I do the exact same thing and unless someone actually points it out, I wont notice that something is right underneath my feet even though I subconsciously step over it to avoid tripping on it.

I have a 'no shoes in house' rule (US). When I lived in Berlin, i fought with my German guy abt this....he didn't like taking off his shoes 😡.

This is good. Some people couldn't organize a two piece puzzle. Someone I know has shoes in every room of the house. This is kind of crazy, but really annoying!
