Today the reviews for The Last of Us Part 1 remake on PS5 are being released but shockingly the scores are a bit lower than I expected. Lets talk about why this MASSIVELY hyped exclusive for the PlayStation 5 seems to be getting bashed a bit despite the AMAZING graphics and old school gameplay.

I think it's natural that new versions of games tend to wind up with lower scores. Even if this release was identical to the first game, standards might have changed over a decade.

Remakes and remasters usually get lower scores.

It's usually because the games not as groundbreaking as when it first came out

The thing is, you don't notice the visual changes while you're playing it. If you haven't played Part 1 for a while, you won't remember what things looked like. You'll notice when screen shots are side by side, but when you're in it, everything will look the way you think it's supposed to.

This is actually really common for remakes and remasters. They almost always score lower than their original version. Also not surprising when this game has a controversial price point (leading to some reviewers likely expecting more than just a graphical increase) and completely cut out the entire MP mode.

I think they should have included Factions, we're still playing that game mode because it's brilliant multiplayer. No one gets more than a few bullets, there's no cover fire or spraying, everything is quiet until it suddenly isn't. Like nothing you've played before.

Game should be 60 score...30 point deduction for being a cash grab!

The real shame is that Sony released the same game 3 times. Once was enough.

A game from 2013 on ps3, had multiplayer was $60, the first remaster for ps4 for $40 also had multiplayer... the "remake" on ps5, that is actually a remaster, no multiplayer, for $70. Nah I'll wait personally

Tell that to IGN they gave Destroy All Humans 2 Remake a 6/10 even tho the gave the original 2006 version a 8.

quite simple, the PS3 version was literally lightning in a bottle, if you try and recreate that you'll get lesser results

For me the biggest let down is that we are still playing the PS3 version with better graphics. If they included TLOU Part 2 combat and level design I would have bought it. Gameplay is still the same as PS3. New accessibility modes is not enough. This must be the only remake that is built from the ground up with the same PS3 gameplay limitations and engine. Not worth it.

I feel that this game should be called "Last of Us Part 1 Remaster 2". "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is excellent example of a remake.

Last of Us was always about the story for me. I could care less that somebody's eyebrows are more detailed. It's like buying a book you already own just for the dust jacket with the movie characters on it.

This game looks fine there was no point in having a remake at this moment should have put their focus on something else.

6:26 Environs is a real word. Painful to watch you try to point out a mistake but you’re the one making it.

Cut content (Mp), Price increase, time changing the standards. Tbh it should score lower.

As a consumer it failed to convince me. Some sort of “alternative ending” or new gameplay modes like having more enemies on screen like DMC5 PS5 did would have justified it.

As it stands this is SONY’s opportunity to make PS+ essentials worth it. If they get the game there close to the end of the year that would be an absolute win. Either than or it goes on a 20 dollar sale. I have 0 doubts it will see discounts for Halloween, although be it a 40 deal or more.

As a Playstation player I don't care you have to be a SHILL! to buy this game for a 3rd time for MORE!... money and LESS!... content. Sony is constantly testing it's fanbase and the fanbase is either to stupid to notice or just don't care and fully support being scammed. It's really sick in my opinion.

Of course they would be lower...It's basically a shot for shot remake of a 9 years old game, without the added benefit of its multiplayer component...How could it have scored higher? Just in terms of level design and mechanics, its sequel is way, way ahead. The score is great, still, and perfectly understandable.
