I had the same issue and solved it by having the other person share their location at least once with me (just one hour) then they appear to me as a maps contact with the maps logo in front of their contact. I can then share permanently without having them share their location in return. Hope it helps

Why is it that my adult account has the option to share permanently but my 13 year old sons account can only share for 24hrs? This is backwards.

Its not permanent it will turnoff itself after 24 hour

After 24 hours, then you have to share location again and again. It can’t be permanent. How to solve this. Please advise

same issue only sharing 24 hrs. I figured out if the other person ahs a google email, they can be added andf then bypass the 24 hrs
