As a teacher you can tell when a kid's smart but not good at school. I try to make sure those kids feel seen and valued even when they're not doing well academically. Most of the teachers I know were bad students

My teachers said I wouldn't go far. I didn't go far.

Because the education system makes you a worker, not a CEO.

You also have to take into account most of them went to top 10 schools so they had to be good at some point

Most people that thinks like that ended up homeless. Laziness is not always the key to success

It's been proven in a number of studies that luck and attractiveness play a far more significant role in becoming hyper successful than intelligence, talent, or hard work.

In fact, the most talented, hard working, and genuinely intelligent people end up capped near the upper middle end of the spectrum, but rarely ever go on to be hyper successful.

Let's be honest Tyson's teachers were always annoyed with Neil because he probably never shutup

The day after I graduated highschool I showed up at the school at 3pm hung over to pick up my diploma. The ladies in the office asked what college I was going to and I laughed at them and walked out. Soon I’ll be building my first home

Yeah, valedictorians generally end up in research fields. Scientists, philosophers, classical musicians, space tech engineers etc..
Shakers todays are basically entrepreneurs, politicians, popular artists and athletes, none of which require exceptional intelligence. Confidence, disagreeableness, social skills, hard work (generally in simple repetitive tasks, that geniuses think are beneath them and waste of their potential), family money, greed, decietfullness etc.... are the qualities we are looking at here.

And I’d bet money that a whole lot of those people tried to get Valedictorian.

Statistically speaking, people who do good in school and college tend (emphasis on TEND) to be more successful in life. Though this correlation breaks off when speaking of the most successful people on Earth, like billionaires.

If they have such good grades and become valedictorian, I suspect they probably have a severe anxiety disorder

I don't think being a CEO/famous is necessarily a measure of success in life.

Sundar Pichai was at or near the top of the class in the Wharton MBA program, which fundamentally makes him almost certainly terrible at being CEO of one of the world's most valuable companies.
