Note to anyone reading, do NOT feed a baby peanut butter. Another video I watched showed a lady doing this and the bird seemed fine, but this video shows the proper thing to feed them.

my boss found a baby sparrow that supposedly fell through a drain pipe (the ones connected to houses/buildings) and gave it to me to take home. i started feeding it grinded oatmeal mixed with warm water which it ate pretty well. today now i bought exact hand feeding formula and i’m working on the mixing. i think ill just add a bit more of the extract in the water or put a little less water next time

hi just a tip. once the birds have turned into fledglings they will need more vitamens than flower and water. this is good for hatchlings and nestlings but the vitamens you will be looking for are D3 A E and B complex!

I wonder if those mouths trigger people's trypophobia.

You know a baby bird nest with dead mother found by human the chicks would have a higher survival rate because we measure the food and share equally

Thank you! I found a nest with three baby birds on the side of the road. Two are dead but I will take care of the remaining baby. It's eyes aren't developed yet and it has no feathers. Again, thank you.

IF YOU CAN BRING THE BIRD TO A REHAB CENTER THAT IS THE BEST THING TO DO, EVEN IF IT’S A LONG DRIVE, THEY WILL HAVE THE BEST CHANCE OF SURVIVAL THERE.
But if that impossible…
The birds should be fed every 15-20 minutes and in SMALL amounts. Nestlings will gape even when they are full. You can see their crops, pouch on right side of neck, are dangerously full, this can cause many health issues and even death. DO NOT OVERFEED. Formula is notorious for filling crops much faster than insects or water. The food should be placed further back in the birds mouth. Their glottis or air pathway is in front of their epiglottis or food pathway. This makes is easy for them to aspirated get food/fluid in their lungs. Aspiration also cause health’s problems like pneumonia and even death. Get a 1 mil. Syringes and carefully place it in the birds throat, not to far, but behind the glottis, you can look up a picture for reference and then look in your birds mouth so you know where to place the syringe, and give only tiny drops at a time. Only give birds this size .2-.3mils. Always wait for them to swallow before giving more. If you can find lactated ringers solution (bird electrolyte solution) use it, it is much better than water. Also never is a tooth pick or tweezers to feed the birds, they are way to sharp. Use a blunt hemostat or 1 mil. syringe. Using a syringe with a plastic cranula tip, NEVER METAL, is good for preventing aspiration and for feeding small birds. Feed birds from sun up to sundown, typically 8am-8pm. The bird should poop every 1-2 feedings or every 15-30 minutes.

When the bird begins to perch or becomes a fledgling, they should be fed every 30 minutes. Try getting frozen crickets, thaw before feeding, or mealworms, drown before feeding. Shake frozen crickets in a plastic container to remove the sharp legs and then soft out legs and place in hot water to thaw. NEVER FEED A FROZEN CRICKET. Use a hemostat to hand feed. Nestling can also eat bigs but make sure they are not too big or the bird will choke. And don’t feed to many, they need less than you think and again they will gape even if they are full.

For nesting, use a hat or cap and line with wrinkled toilet paper, birds need places to put their feet, they cannot grab onto flat surfaces. If you have a heat lamp use a low setting or place a heating pad beneath the nest and use only the lowest setting. Keep them in an open air container and use a lid, only if it has air holes, to prevent escape.
For best success research your bird species, learn as much about them as possible and look up reputable bird rehab sites. You can call many places and ask for help/advice. The wildlife rehabilitation center of MN will answer calls and help people from around the world with any species. Research bird care and especially feeding. Don’t listen to anyone who posts a bird care video, from my experience much of the information is wrong.

We found what we think is a blue jay; it was in the middle of the road, and appears to be uninjured, perhaps abandoned. It is a bit wobbly, flaps its wings a little. It is eating, chirping, and has slept most of the time.

Today I found one but he doesn't want to eat. I mean he doesn't open his mouth voluntarily...
Is it any kind of flour okay to feed him?
