Here's a starter guide for new players checking out Black Desert Online. There are a LOT of systems in place and it can be very overwhelming for new players. In time you'll learn to appreciate the layers but for a new player it can be frustrating. This video was made for the purpose of giving a little direction to the new players starting out!

A huge tip for a new BDO account - spend 5-10 mins working on your UI when you start, you'll get 1000's of alerts right off the top. Those are absurd and can be turned off immediately. A good UI helps this complicated game feel a lot more palatable.

Went back to BDO a week ago, installed the game to claim my free T9 Pegasus, but ended up staying and making a new season char, having an absolute blast. Game is much improved, you get shared bank access now, fast teleport travel, solo instanced hunting grounds for an hour a day, quests for guaranteed PEN armor/accessories, combat feels smoother, etc. The game honestly has too much content which can be overwhelming, but it's a good problem to have for a MMO.

I couldn't figure out what to do when I first logged back in after 2 years, so I made a new season char and it helped me ease back into the game. Highly recommend giving BDO a try in 2023.

3 things that important to add to this guide

1. Whatever item drops that you can sell to your Central Market keep it and store it in your central market warehouse till you figure out more about the game. VERY IMPORTANT **Selling in the Central market without a value Pack is a 50% Tax vs 30% tax if value pack Active**


2. You will see enemy Health bars after you get knowledge on them (You get that by defeating that enemy & it’s RNG)

3. Main quest always has the BDO logo so if you are confused about if you are doing main quest/Important quest look for the BDO Logo.

4. Bonus To clear the Fog from the map you need to talk to The node manager NPC. (Nodes are just land marks of BDO)

I always wanted to try a mmo game and thankfully PSplus had this game free and i wanted to try it, and let me tell you... for a first time playing this kind of game, i got so overwhelmed and i just closed the game and went to find some guides to help me because there was so much on the screen and the UI is a bit distracting, idk if it’s only an issue on Console but i'll give it time and learn the basics with guides and thank you for helping because this can be overwhelming and tbh it is overwhelming and distracting that they put everything on screen and quests everywhere 😂

I just started playing BDO very recently and I love it! I'd give tip: Speaking of Storage, Magnus quest from Black Spirit so you'll be able to unlock any town storage. It's very handy. I store food stuff in Velia, wood in Heidel, liquids in Olvia, farming stuff in Trent, etc. & can access those if unlocked via Magnus in any town 🎉

Really getting into BDO, love how much stuff you actually have to do in it as well, the life skills are honestly one of my favourite things, means you’re not just stuck on a forever ending loop of questing. Man, who could have imagined 3 months ago, that people would be playing BDO again, servers full, twitch with 50k + viewers ....Pearl Abyss really NAILED the new Boss Blitz region and the annual meeting m so happy, its been my game for 7 years now and I love to see all this action and hype around BDO again :)

Nice beginners guide btw, new players often get lost starting in BDO, some of them actually quit in early stages, this kind of guides help a lot.

I started playing this 2 days ago, currently got 17 hours as of this comment, and I'm absolutely loving it, but inventory is 100% my biggest issue so these storage tips helped. Go questing and to my surprise I have a full inventory of stuff having no clue what they do so I appreciate it xD

quick tip about discovering npc: press R once to talk to them and immidiatelly hit esc to close. you do not have to go through dialogues

BDO is my first shot at playing a "classic mmo". I play Destiny 2 but thats a whole different breed of mmo, this one felt quite overwhelming as I refused to look at online videos so I can just experience it myself.
I know well that these games take a lot of time to grind so I felt no rush on things. Yet I find myself taking long breaks after a while. Now I have recently picked it up again this time I feel more immersed to the world now that theres voice acting in the game.

Just coming back to bdo after 4 years and holy shit was I overwhelmed xD
I tried coming back 2 years ago already, played for 2-3 days and stopped again because everything was just to much.
