Waves Sibilance used in instruments (guitar solo)

It is quite usual to use a #DeEsser in instruments other than the voice, in this case the timbre of this #guitar has a slightly annoying brightness but if it is reduced with an EQ the track loses its magic touch so we are going to use a #Sibilance which is a DeEsser that uses a different system than traditional models.

To start activate MONITOR to hear the signal that will be reduced and LOOKAHEAD so that the plugin has time to think (be sure to activate the Delay Compensation in your DAW).

Reduce THRESHOLD to the minimum so that the plugin is able to read all the available audio on the track (it's ok, you can do it with Sibilance, that's what the Organic Resynthesis Tech was developed for). As we can hear even with THRESHOLD at the minimum the plugin still does not hear anything.

Move DETECTION to the right to increase the area where the plugin will look for frequencies to reduce. Now it is affecting sounds that we are not interested in reducing like the attack of the pick and the body of some notes.

Move SPLIT to the right to focus the effect of the plugin only in the high frequency zone which is the one that bothers our ears.

Now reduce RANGE to increase the amount of reduced signal and turn off MONITOR. By the way, if we turn off LOOKAHEAD the plugin will let the initial attack of the reduced sounds go through, that's why some people think that LOOKAHEAD makes the plugin sound more lo-fi which is not correct. Note how the DeEsser makes the guitar sound fatter.

Now adjust RANGE again until the annoying sounds are being reduced to the level you like and finally listen in context.

Sibilance is also great at making super heavy guitars sound less fizzy and digital!!

Try HoRNet de-esser - it is the one (for such a low price) which able to rival Fabfilter DS, in my opinion.
