2019 Acura TLX - Review & Road Test

Acura's TLX is an entry-level luxury sedan that has some stiff competition. Included in its list of frenemies are those from Europe, specifically the German part. Quietly, however, the TLX is a strong seller in spite of the pretzel-and-wurst-eating set. Find out with Kelley Blue Book's Micah Muzio how the TLX manages to keep its head up in such luxurious shark infested waters.

While I like the TLX, I don't understand why anyone would get it in fwd. In that guise, the Accord makes MUCH more sense.... Stronger engine, optional manual transmission, better, updated infotainment and it's a bigger, more commodious car. The TLX looks best with the V6 and SH-AWD. Otherwise, just go for the Accord.

Don't complain about simple things like the interior of the cabin. It's the reliability of the engine transmission that matters!

I love the two screens. If you own the car, you have taken the time to know which screen is which. Most reviewers seem to think if you can figure it out in 2 seconds there is a problem. Most executives work with two, three, or four screens on their desk. Love my 4 cylinder TLX and I do have a 6 cylinder TL. TLX is more fun to drive.

I bought my 4 cylinder TLX new in 2019 and still have it with a little over 50k miles on it! I really love this car…it’s combination of luxury and practicality set it apart from others.

20 yrs living in NY and never needed AWD. All my cars had been FWD. Never had a problem in the snow. Currently drive a 2016 Accord.

I'm sure this is a great car, but I prefer the styling of the Accord and the simpler infotainment system on the Accord, for much less money. The Accord is a great value. If someone were in the market for an AWD luxury sedan and had $47, 000 to spend, their are more appealing options available. It seems like Honda has improved but Acura's styling is not keeping pace, making the Honda a great value but the Acura not so much.

They need to put the 2019 Rdx interior in every Acura

I still own both, I'll pay more for Acura, sublime in every way! Acura sweats the little things.

I wouldn't have chosen the blue TLX with red seats more preferably black TLX with red seats

This is the problem with Honda. It doesn't differentiate much of their product with the luxury line except the price and the badge.

I have to imagine the new RDX interior is coming to this and the rest of Acura’s lineup. If I was interested in the TLX I would just be patient for that upgrade and that upgrade really has to happen because the present TLX interior just isn’t cutting it even at this price point.

The TLX is based off the old Accord i believe. The exterior's on Acura's finally look pretty good, but inside they all need redesign!!!! The RDX is the only full redesign car from Acura right now....

How about a TOUCH SCREEN navigation with instant City/State, longitude, latitude and elevation? How about a gear shift LEVER intead of push buttons? How about a radio station tuning KNOB and a SUPER SIMPLE center console? How about an ATTRACTIVE front end with a SMALL Acura logo on the front grill and a SMOOTH hood? How about SOFT TOUCH dash/door panels? It's always feels good to return the 2019 TLX loaner and get my 2005 TL Auto w/NAV back.

Why not just buy the top level trim of the Honda Accord?

Am I the only one who was never bothered by the two screen layout? I actually like it and it feels nicely layout to me. The issue is the horribly dated infotainment system and the not user friendly jumping from screen to screen stuff that it does. Not to mention the navigation graphics are horribly old. Unforgivable for a luxury brand. Even in the new RDX they fixed the infotainment system but still have the horrible old navigation system graphics.

I’ve always liked the look of two screens my issue is with the practicality of it.

Also why do people hate the push button gear changer? If it was push button for a manual car then yes that’s fucking dumb. But is it really that big of a deal to push the button to go into gear for an automatic engine? Should we go back to using keys to turn on and off the car as well instead of push buttons?
