It's dumb, breaking turns off the cruise control, so as soon as they noticed and pressed breaks it would turn off. No delay

No, the problem is that neither he nor the driver behind them we likely following at a proper distance. Thats why they didn't have time to stop cruise control had nothing to do with it.

Now the thing with Cruise Control is that it Literally turns OFF as soon as you touch the brake pedal. So just keep your feet ready, and using CC will be fine. Now it's still important to maintain safe distance to the car in front.

No. CC turns off when you so much as touch your brake. What REALLY is the issue, is keeping your safe distance and paying attention to what is happening around you. Anticipate. Be present while driving, man. You are operating a multiple tonne chunk of metal, the LEAST you can do is pay some attention to it...

Why not? Most modern cruise control have active distance control...

I hate people using mobile phones whole driving. They'll be travelling at the limit just fine and then take off cruise as if to think suddenly dropping 10 to 30 ks an hour on a 100 k freeway IS SOME HOW SAFER!

What a complete bullshit story. The only reason the third car crashed is cause he was distracted by something else than driving! I always use cruise control and my car even brakes automatically if objects are getting to close.

Why do a lot of redditors keeping giving the wrong answer? The question was "why do some people use Cruise controlso much?" not "what made you glad you turned off cruise control?"
