Apple's Most Popular Keyboard Ever

In this video we take a look at "Apple Wired Keyboard", model number A1243. This was the last wired keyboard Apple made, being for sale for 10 years and was discontinued in 2017. Until the iMac Pro it was also the last keyboard with a number pad.

I agree, I have five other Apple keyboards on hand and the A1243 is the best Apple keyboard if not the best keyboard of all time... Keep it away from liquids and clean it with very not wet cloths. I killed on a few years back when trying to clean it the same way I had before, with electronic cleaning wipes, as result, the 3, e, d, & c buttons all died. It finally came to mind to search for one on ebay to go with my recently resurrected and upgraded Mac Pro 5, 1, which I run as my daily driver. Thanks for making this video!

This is a very good video. On all of my desktop computers, I prefer to use wired mechancial Apple keyboards with a number pad and either the back keys or white keys model. When needing to use a wireless keyboard, I use the mechancial keyboard with its number pad and white keys.

Absolutely loved my A1243.. Still my most fav modern keyboard that I've used. However, if I were to spend money on an Apple keyboard, I would get the one from the 80s Mac Plus or an Apple M0116. I am currently using a Bastron Glass keyboard and considering that Apple's touch devices are getting so popular and you can do so much on an iPad now, I think that getting used to type on glass may be a good thing.

The newer wireless keyboards can be used wired with a Lightning cable.

I love the feel of these keyboards, but I have already gone through two of them (the keys fall off), and i am thinking of getting one that is more durable.

The A1243 is the best Apple keyboard in my opinion. Killed my last one by plugging it into an old blue and white G3 Power Mac. Not sure why that would happen, but it fried it somehow I think. Now I just get an error saying it's using too much power when plugging it in.

I found the 2007 wired model in my garage a few days ago, Im surprised it's still works! after collecting dust for so many yeaaars.
Im currently cleaning it with alcohol wipes to get rid of the gunk, I'll probably still not use it, i love my mechanical keyboards too much, but now that i know the 2007 model is the most popular, maybe i can get some money owo

I had or have all of those to the current Magic 2. I even had the early Bluetooth large 10 key w/ AA batteries but I wanna go backk to the 2 gen back 10 key wired so I don't have to remember what month to charge. Although these new 2's last so long, well the mouse goes 1st as it proly gets used more in editing. Especially for dual booting as I keep having to re connect BT in Windows back from MAC or even other Windows machine. & wake up from keyboard can work again. Fun video, awesome collection.
