Alex The Astronaut - 'Rockstar City' (Official Audio)

Показать описание
Official audio for Alex The Astronaut's "Rockstar City" available everywhere.
'Rockstar City' is a postcard home to my Mum about my first gig in New York City. I signed up for a 15 minute slot to play at the famous Bitter End, where all the folk stars started out in the 1960s. Bob Dylan had been a regular there, Billy Joel had played 'Piano Man' there two weeks before I performed, and Etta James, Joni Mitchell and plenty other rockstars had sung there too. The names could be read off from the list of past performers on the wall behind the bar and I was really nervous. I powered through and even though I was a bit shaken and awkward I made it out okay. This song's about taking everything in and celebrating the little wins you get sometimes and sharing them with the people you love. 🗽

LYRICS
Wild smiles from the streetside,
Think they’re getting high
I don’t mind the sunny puddles
It’s hot my socks and shoes will dry
Something’s put me in a daze
Did they tell you I got lost today
And I know the streets are numbered
Welcome to New York they’ll say
I think they could tell I was nervous
‘Cause I kept looking down I kept watching the ground
But I made my way back through the chorus
And the half baked crow started cheering quite loud
And I didn’t know if it was for me,
So I lifted my eyes from my feet
Oh was it something to see
I smiled and remembered to breathe
Mum I sang in Rockstar City
I think you’d be proud
I think you’d be proud
Oh I sang in Rockstar City
I think you’d be proud
Lunch in Soho Noho I don’t know
They seem the same to me
But MoMa FOMO took me from Noho
The afternoon was looking free
Will the horses from their feet
The taxi’s good enough for me
Your money trees can’t sell to me
The park’s got gardens full for free
I think they could tell I was nervous
‘Cause I kept looking down I kept watching the ground
But I made my way back through the chorus
And the half baked crow started cheering quite loud
And I didn’t know if it was for me,
So I lifted my eyes from my feet
Oh was it something to see
I smiled and remembered to breathe
Mum I sang in Rockstar City
I think you’d be proud
I think you’d be proud
Oh I sang in Rockstar City
I think you’d be proud
Crying at the garden’s edge won’t let you see the flowers that grow in Spring
Pass the front desk bare and glassy
Ask who’s working there too late
So I stare long enough to care
There’s still ideas that I don’t get
Coloured hair and fancy dress
Seem to be the theme here I would guess
It’s time to go I’ve got a show
Breathe slow as jelly fills my legs
I think they could tell I was nervous
‘Cause I kept looking down I kept watching the ground
But I made my way back through the chorus
And the half baked crow started cheering quite loud
And I didn’t know if it was for me,
So I lifted my eyes from my feet
Oh was it something to see
I smiled and remembered to breathe
Mum I sang in Rockstar City
I think you’d be proud
I think you’d be proud
Oh I sang in Rockstar City
I think you’d be proud
Mum I sang in Rockstar City
Oh it can’t have been all that pretty
But I sang in Rockstar City
I think you’d be proud
I think you’d be proud
