Sony a7Rii Amazing Eyeball Focusing In Continuous Mode

In a large technological advance that would be of immense value to wedding photographers is the Sony a7Rii's "Eye-AF" in Continuous (otherwise known as 'servo' mode) Autofocus mode.

This allows the photographer to have the camera pinpoint the iris of the eyeball even if the subject is in motion during shutter release or in a motor drive sequence. This is an unprecedented feature.

That's an excellent feature - very useful when trying to capture a fleeting mood.  Question: Once you've pressed the button you assign to EyeAF, does it continue to follow the eye for an indefinite number of exposures?  How would you "start over" - if you lower the camera briefly, etc.?  Does it pick up where you left off when you raise the camera to the subject again?  How is this type of action handled by the camera? - Great feature!

This camera is like easter egg saturated. Just chopped in a D800E for it and everyday I find new things I never new it did. WIth the apps being developed I think owning this will be a very different experience than my previous Dslrs (looking at you 2 fw updates in 3yrs Nikon). Nice video thanks.

That is a fantastic feature which I am sure Sony will continue to fine-tune over a period of time. At the moment though it was quite obvious once you actually started shooting images that it was taking shots when the focusing square was nowhere near the model's eyes.

Thanks Gary, what a great hidden feature. Is it only limited to eye's? Can it be used for say a flower that's slightly moving from a breeze? Also, does distance make a difference in accuracy?

Does 'Eye Focus' only lock when you hold down the button or will it function automatically with a click of the AE-L button after you've programmed it?

For example, self taping, would you have to hold the button down or simply press once?

how is all this Sony Focus "magic" working in much more low light situations?
In your videos according AF etc. (as in this one) you are practically on the sun surface.
I do own a Sony A6000 and can tell you that in good light the Eye AF is good but in low light situations things change rapidly.
In my opinion the A7R2 is massivly overpriced as well!

Hello, does the eye focus feature on work with native lenses? I'm slowly switching from Canon to Sony but Sony is limited on lenses.. Wondering if I use the metabone and my canon glass, if it will work.. I'm seeing a lot of "Invalid with the lens."
