Thank you! I've spent the last hour in my car trying to figure out the best placement. The only thing I really considered was the best recording angle and how would I run the cable. This helped me narrow it down a bit and made me realize what else I need to consider. Side note... My local auto parts store sells a pack of cable guides that can help keep the cable in place instead of tucking in the headliner and worrying about air bags on the side. They seem pretty discreet so I may pick those up and see how they look. This would also allow me to easily remove the cable if I need to swap it out or for cleaning without worry of snagging the cable and moving it.

This is extremely informative. Thank you! I'm deciding on which dashcam to buy and placement is also a decision to make. I'm between top center and bottom center. I would do bottom center IF I can mount the dashcam on a rubigrid or something (Jeep Wrangler). This way it's not too low to have obstruction. However the dashcam size may factor in as well.

I would like to place my cam on the dashboard, preferably with a GoPro mount or a ball mount. I do not want to place the camera on the top, or have it upside down like most cameras. I don't think any place near the windshield will give a broad enough view of things happening laterally. I suspect the best place may be between the front seat headrests, at about eye level. This would also give a view of the dash instruments. Plus, if the camera also captures a rear view, that will give the broadest lateral view of the rear.

"If you live in Europe, WHERE THEY DRIVE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD"!! :) Yes, in Britain and Ireland they do, but NOT in Holland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switserland, Austria, Poland, Belarus, Belgium, Luxemburg, Hungary, Ukraine, Greece etc. we also drive on the right side of the road.
