I was the Stage Manager on this show in the theatre - it was chaos as i couldn't hear the TV director Mike Mansfield in my talkback so I busked the entire show with another SM, and hoped for the best. Princess Margaret spent most of the show in the royal retiring room behind her box sipping G & T's....Heady days

I don't remember seeing this but I must have as I was obsessed with Supersonic and Joanna Lumley and that Christmas one of my presents was a TV Times special magazine about the New Avengers. I always loved seeing Twiggy on Supersonic, I think she looked nervous here and missed the second verse by repeating the first but she had a great voice and was stunning, oh the 70's!

Great memories for me..I was up in the gods for this and felt like a sheer drop looking down on the stage. and the 'fans 'chant off' between Glitter and Bolan fans before the show! .Have to say most of the acts where pop fodder with only a few shining through..Marc Bolan was the star of the show for me (even though the hot lights made guitars go out of tune) ..lovely memories ;-)

Surprised this hasn't been removed because of Gary Glitter - but long live the 'master' - Mike Mansfield.

The G Band formerly the "Glitter Band" they have since lost Gerry Shepard who did joint
vocals with John Springate, who sang lead on this song, and Harvey Ellison who was
on Saxophone. I was 18 when this came out, and although I gave away the old LP's.
I have since managed to find a box set of their albums.

I was there, only to see Guys n Dolls, but shame Gary Glitter was the headline act, would have been good for the other bands to do at least 2 songs. Glad I found this though.

Whatever Happened to John Miles? I have a couple of his albums, but it seemed to be a
G G Show, and he can't sing Live. Has anyone heard that "Remember me This Way" lp it was
chronic.

The year I passed 3 A level exams but it has to be said 1976 rates as the poorest year of pop/rock music ever.
As you see here, it's very tame and bland, more family light entertainment, nothing creative at all.
In truth, every act here had faded from their peak, almost waiting to be put out of their misery.
1/ Glitter Band almost like a light pop act.
2/ Bolan, a pale shadow of his former self, a spent force, his band here nothing like the original line up. The ''Frog'' song sums up his
fall from grace, treading water, no longer dynamic, he'd lost his way. Only positive, he looks much healthier than before.
3/ Glitter cutting a somewhat slimmer figure but that's the only positive, otherwise he resembles a music hall act relying on old
hits, literally dying on his feet, tired and relying on the past. Mysteriously, he was given far too much show time here. Very odd.
You really do wonder what the point of this show was actually about. It was utterly naff.
For all involved here, they must surely have realised that they were churning out absolute dross and mediocrity.
By now, however, were the first stirrings of punk which blasted away the old cobwebs, much more dynamic, creative and inventive.
