Here's a deeper explanation beyond what's in the video for those looking for more (I understand the video was a bit more literal). The series as a whole deals a lot with societal pressure, greed, and not being happy with what you have (always wanting more), but each act looks at all of this in a different way:

Act One - This deals with the societal pressure to have a successful career. The family was happy as they were (low income), but pressure from their relatives allowed the father to be easily susceptible to the malicious benefactor. The benefactor needed someone to initiate the curse on the house, and the father made the perfect specimen. Because of the father's need to have more than just a happy family, he ended up losing himself and his family, as it's very unlikely the children survived. The benefactor was also abusive of his workers and had an obsession with controlling everything around him, which is a direct contrast to everyone who occupies the house throughout all three acts.

Act Two - The developer is alone. It's assumed that he has lost all of his friends (and likely family) due to his obsession with having more, wealth, and possibly his obsession with work as well. The act begins with him essentially firing all of his help, looking down on people who he feels cannot live up to his standards. He lies to the bank, his other investors, and to himself. The fur bugs infest the house showing how his life has been infested by his greed and selfishness. All of this leads to him losing what little he has left, including his sanity. He's left with no money, no friends, not even fake relationship, and reverts back to his natural state as a normal mouse.

Act Three - This is the only redemption arc in the entire anthology series. Rosa starts with the pressure to create the perfect home instead of being happy with her life as it is. While the rising waters drove away most of her tenants, none of them looked after Rosa's well-being because, for her, they were nothing more than ways to make money. She has friends living around her at the house, but she can't see that and treats them poorly. Once Cosmos arrives, he not only cleanses the curse from the house by allowing the fog in, he also frees Rosa literally and metaphysically, by making modifications to the house so she survives the flood, and helping her understand that she not only has friends, but everything she needs to be happy in this post-apocalyptic world.

As I mentioned in the video. I'm happy to answer any additional questions you may have. I know there are varying opinions about the meaning of the three acts, so happy to discuss differing opinions than what I've said in the video and in this comment. Thanks for watching/reading!

The first arc touches deep in material possessions. How some people value that more than their family. The married couple forget about their children and focus more on obsessing over the house.
The father wanting to find happiness in material possessions forget about his children. Feeding more to the fire the more you have the more you want not ever fulfilling his ambitions. Forgetting the most important thing which is family.
The second arc focuses on mental illness. We have a man thinking he has a relationship with his gf when in reality it is his dentist. All the bugs symbolize the chaos surrounding his mind. Although he tries to hide the bugs and trying to get rid of them he has an infestation meaning his mental illness is taking over him. It could also symbolize schizophrenia. Which is a sad subject to touch upon but when we eventually forget who we are we become someone else in his case a wild rat.
The third arc is about breaking free even thought you have no other way out of the outcomes life has send your way. Just like covid. We had business owners losing their businesses during covid we had people struggling during these awful times. Breaking free means working with what she had. With the help of cosmos she has a boat now.

Did anyone else think it was an wes Anderson film at first? I was surprised to learn there were 3 different directors in this fantastical film

An excellent show that goes beyond the typical haunted house tropes. The horror rather seems to be symbolic for the residents basically haunting themselves based on their misplaced priorities and obsessions. The first guy sacrifices a good-enough situation because of social pressure and being made to feel less-than. The rat guy basically destroys his own social life and isolates himself from everyone and everything for the sole purpose of renovating the perfect house -- losing his 'humanity' he becomes a mere animal in the end. And Rosa has become absorbed in her dream home ideas that have no foundation in reality, a literal 'sunk cost' that can only be buoyed by friendship.

The meaning of the name “Cosmos” (put something in order, universe..) is also very interesting in my opinion. He helps rosa out by putting a new order in her life. And after his help they sail in to the unknown

Since the house curse comes from the location maybe at the end the curse would be gone since the house has been moved

I think i enjoyed this movie more because of the art style over the actual story. The trailer had me expecting a little more plot wise if i'm being honest.

but if the location of the house is where the curse is and in the end they decide to move forward away from the location, why would the house still be cursed?
