What a beautiful song.
~ I’m grieving my son’s leaving this world due to Covid. But one day the Lord will restore everything I lost and will avenge me and my family on what the devil did to us. Hallelujah !!! Preaching and ministering to the lost; to win more souls for the Kingdom of God!!! 🔥🔥🔥

May the Lord bring peace that only he can. Without Jesus there can be no peace. I put all my faith and trust in him

"God is not dead nor does He sleep.  The wrong shall fail, the right prevail, with peace on earth, good will to men!"

This song keeps singing in my heart this Christmas season 2023, it’s like have never heard it before, but I have! It’s such a New meaning in my heart of God’s Peace, the Peace He gave us through the birth of Jesus Christ Our Savior. May peace on earth & in my heart sing a chime, a rhyme, a praise…. Always

This has to be one of the most positive, Christian comment sections ever. This is the humanity I want.

You may not know the origins of this song's story. In a divided time more now than ever since the Civil War maybe. It was written by a the father who's son was sacrificed on the battlefield during the Civil War. His heart was broken that year, 1863. The Christmas season was going on around him in some northern city. As he heard the bells the Sunday morning, it got through his brokenness, and he penned these words. God bless that generation for their sacrifice to freedom. And all others to this day in ours. May we ever keep the lessons and sacrifices of freedom close to our heart's as we remain the last beacon of hope in a falling world. Thank you for reading.

I have enjoyed this song my whole life, but this version brings about an emotion of finding peace that I have never experienced with this song before.

It's nice to hear that God is not dead nor does He sleep. But the refrain about how the songs of peace are mocked by the hateful hearts is very true to me. Peace does not reign on this earth. Fear does. But for those who go the narrow path, you may find that peace in your heart the closer you walk towards our loving Parent. Even more, you may find a thriving, living love that only flames brighter the more you stoke it

I first discovered this song last year, when our church used the tune for our play. We themed the play, including lyrics for the song, around a dream where Christ never came. He was prophesied, foretold, right up to the day Mary was to be found with child. And she just... wasn't. Mankind was on our own. It's fitting, because man never heard those bells, the words "peace on earth" and were panicked trying to find the way. We honestly couldn't have chose a better song if we wanted to.

The choir I sing in, recorded this version of the song last year.  It is based on a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The story behind it is awesome!  If you listen closely to the words, the first two verses are very gloomy, then suddenly it becomes joyous.  During the American Civil War, Longfellow lost his wife as the result of a fire that maimed and crippled her, eventually succumbing to her painful injuries.  In 1863, his son joined the Union Army, against his father's wishes.  In November the son, Charles, was gravely wounded and died in December.  Longfellow's faith in a loving God was shaken by the loss of his wife and son but eventually, as we hear in the later verses, his faith is restored.
