Optik Fischer Prescription Fat Shark Lens Inserts

If you wear glasses, then you might think that Fat Shark goggles are not for you. But you can get custom-made optical prescription Fat Shark lens inserts, made to your exact prescription, so you can see your Fat Shark goggles as clear as you see with your normal glasses.

In the past, I used RHO-Lens, but I've switched my preference to Optik-Fischer. In this video, I'll tell you why. And you can decide for yourself which one is best for you. I'll also tell you why I don't recommend Custom-FPX, another maker of custom Fat Shark lens inserts.

I ordered these lenses from Optik Fischer and the guy was nice, answered all my questions, seemed very knowledgeable, got a shipping notice (with tracker), but after 2 months I still don't have them (Feb 2020). Not necessarily a problem with Optik Fischer, but possibly how they mail them. Just letting you all know. I ordered the similar lenses (same price) from RHO lenses (from same country) and got them in 2 weeks and they worked fantastic. Kudos to RHO. Also, note that if you have +X prescriptions, diopters will help. Made a huge difference for me (Joshua's reaction conveys my joy).

It is amazing how much nobody talks about how important these inserts are. I have like less than -1 and it makes a HUGE difference

That reaction was priceless! Joshua, I once upon a time I had -5.25 in both eyes caused by astigmatism. a few years back I had it corrected via LASIK surgery. No joke, best money I have EVER spent. No more uncomfortable contacts, no more highly limited FOV from wearing glasses & perfect vision! Your eyesight is in the perfect range for it. Anyways, just sharing my experiences as someone who suffered very poor eyesight for most of my life. Take care :-)

Hello Joshua, I just picked up my corrective lenses today. And i was kinda flashed just like you :-) from the good view with the lenses. The shop is practically around the corner where I live and Jürgen (the owner) showed and explained to me the complete manufacturing process, he°s a very nice guy. Wow JB you just dont know how much i appreciate your time making this video. This video & its content is GOLD to me. I already made the mistake at a local hobby shop in Smyrna TN buying regular FatShark dieopters ($22) which are all negative lenses. ( Really didnt know what i was buying) Which do not help me because im +2 in both eyes practically. I had all but given up on this. Until i stubled onto this video at 4 o clock in a morning while i couldnt sleep.

I've been using RHO lens for about 2 years now and they are right on time every time. Last year, one of my lenses came loose and they replaced it within a week. My hats off to RHO on that one.

I have lenses from RHO. They are awesome. I did have one lens lost as it came out of the carrier while in the goggles. However, I informed Ralf at RHO and they immediately sent me a replacement free of charge. Thanks again Ralf!!!

🇩🇪Super precise German work, I also have the Optiker Fischer inserts for over 2 years now, and it's awesome. The difference was HUGE although I only have like -2ish
Absolutely worth their price, I changed them from goggle to goggle and they still look like new. 🇩🇪

This is perfect timing. I wear glasses and have been very happy with my RHO. Even more so in my Aomway Commanders than my Fatsharks. The Commanders always wore me out forcing me to focus on them until I put the RHO in. But I have always felt weird about the plastic lens holder. I just got a whole bunch of questions about the custom lenses on my goggle shootout from yesterday and will just refer them here now.

I made some lenses when I first got my Dom V3s.
I had the Fatshark diopters but they were no good for my eyes, made things worse.
I got an older pair of glasses (polycarbonate lenses) from a previous prescription as an experiment and carefully cut them out the same size and shape as the Fatshark ones.
I used masking tape to protect them while I was cutting and grinding with the dremel.
The most time consuming part was shaping the edge where they insert into the goggles.
Made a huge difference, about due for a new set now but I know what to do from the first set, should be a lot quicker.

Love my Optik-Fisher lenses - highly recommended! I've only also tried the standard Fatshark diopters, but when I got the O-Fs I could immediately tell they were like a very well made pair of glasses. Best to order them right after you get a new prescription so they're dialed in. My wife worked for an optometrist for years, and she was impressed with the quality of the lens finishing.

Got my rho lenses a few months ago and it’s so nice not having to drive back home because I forgot to put my uncomfortable astigmatism contacts in. And yes, the lenses seem to work better than my contacts and glasses prescription. Glad to of come across the original video. Completely changed my flight experience and coming from Germany, they ship faster than any 3d company I’ve worked with.

They don’t fit loose, they’re nice and snug. Maybe Bardwell didn’t have the updated version. I say give them a go pending price and what you’re looking for.

I used RHO lens for my prescription, of -7.5 and -8 with astigmatism in one eye. No more blurry edges on HD2. The 3d printed lens holders are a little fragile, and a lens can fall out. I lost one, but RHO lens will replace anything, free of charge, no questions asked, within 6 months.
