My dad is a retired corrections officer. The officers busting everyone's balls, acting like they're "better than" the inmates, ... power-tripping.... They don't last. They end up moving locations or end up doing "security" somewhere where they don't have to deal with people-- or change careers entirely. I asked my dad when I was little didn't he get scared every day going to work; my sister and I both were scared for him. But he said that in addition to his training, being cautious, mindful, ... respect goes a long way. He never had any issues with those incarcerated because he did his job. Even when some would "test" him, he stayed professional and respectful.

Worked in a prison and those officers were called busters and did not last long! Treat people with respect because you never know and everybody has done something that getting caught up at the wrong time could land you in trouble no matter the circumstances!
