Is The Round Brush Hurting Your Art Progress?

Just want to say appreciate y'all.

Btw I'm not saying that the round brush is smelly, I'm just saying how using textured brushes revolutionized my art style and took my art to that next level. Something I found extremely difficult to do with just the round. So it probably will help you too!

"I was collecting art styles like infinity stones" LOL LITERALLY SAME

Also this video is amazing, and you have a lot of skill

The comparison from before and after is really good!! I love how much the textures help!

I started digital art recently and I've been using almost exclusively textured brushes, I think experimenting from the beginning can help people figure a lot of different things out and keep you from limiting yourself to safe and stale practices

I always hated the round brush, i tried it after watching SamDoesArts videos and it never really worked for me? My art went downhill using it, and when i returned to textured brushes like the Procreate Dry Ink/Water pen, i got a lot more confident. Honestly, i think the best thing to do when tinkering with your artstyle is to experiment with a lot of different brushes and see what works for you! :D

Honestly I feel the round brush works well for a lot of people, but I can see where textured brushes can come in handy. It’s just that (at least for me personally) using a lot of textured brushes makes my work look sloppy and like I just slapped some random stuff on. If your a beginner, I would stick to a few brushes, but once you know how to use those well, I would try to expand more to add more texture. But again it just depends on what your going for

This is similar to my journey, the round brush helped reinforce my fundamentals of my shadow placement and rendering but it starred feeling lackluster so now I'm learning to use textured brushes

The only brush i use is the round brush because so many youtubers pushed out the message that the round brush is all you need😭😭i always try to incorporate other textures but it just looks so weird

Another way you can make your art yassified and pop out more is by using chromatic aberration and a noise filter. Is a total game changer. Just don't over do it so it can have a natural feel :D

as my favourite artist, Samdoesarts states "if your drawing is dooky, you are dooky, not your brush" and i totally agree with this.
