Guitar: Eileen Aroon

This song was written in the Irish Gaelic by a man named Carrol ODaley, a 17th Century poet. Translated into English in the 19th Century by Gerald Griffin, a shortened version was sung by Tommy Makem and the Clancy Brothers which omitted the first three verses of Griffin's translation. I think this might be one of those sad love songs Tommy Makem often talked about.

Thanks Dave. I do like these slow melodies with a free strumming accompaniment.

A great song, well preformed. I'm practicing it for my solo in my choir.

Such a beautiful melody. I hope to be able to preform it as well as you.
