We tie up local white onions in a similar way!! They are more perishable than the usual purplish red onions so they need to be tied up so they get good air to keep them dryer

I usually keep as much of the stems as possible and braid them altogether. I use the 3 longest ones first then after 2 motions I start adding more one at a time overlapping each original stem. Work longest to shortest and make sure the stems r all dry and dead.
