The Predator looked completely different when Van Damme was playing it. He left and they changed the whole design to what it is now. Its was an absolute blessing.

I understood Van Damme was just too short for the part - Arnold is about 6' 2" and Van Damme Around 5' 9" - so he was replaced by hall who stands at 7' 1".
