Swiss here! While we’re not part of the European Union, we’re definitely part of the continent of Europe, especially as we’re surrounded by other countries and don’t have access to the coast😁 08:20 While we use a 3 pin socket. the 2-pin you showed at 07:20 will work here. Remember that the United Kingdom and Ireland have a completely different socket so remember to bring the correct adapter there too. If you’re visiting there plus mainland Europe, you can get adapters with multiple different types of plug.

Dear Laurie - your travel tips have been a wonderful help to me! I watch as many as possible and always learn something new. Here are some in return from me. We have gone twice a year to Lake Como and LOVE it, except in the summer (we only went once then and it was hot and crowded with European families). Spring and fall (shoulder seasons) are our favorites. In many areas the Italians are elegantly dressed. My favorite travel pants are Talbots everyday stretch straight leg. A bit heavier than many, but can be dressed up or down and the soft knit holds its shape even on a long flight.. Only 3 colors, but a wide size range. On Cloud 5 are my best walking shoes, as you have pointed out they have waterproof ones in a few colors. (Ecco doesn’t fit me as well.). I use the little gemice no leak containers based on your recommendation and love them! Never a leak and I packed 10 days worth in them. Since we go often I bought a curling iron and heating pad with Euro plugs - not so costly when you compare converters, adapters, etc. The hotel concierge helped us locate the heating pad, and the curling iron was at a hardware store in the window! Be sure to take the Ferries that go around the lake - it’s fun, and each little town has a bit different character. The ferries are cheap enough that working people take them daily to and from their workplaces. Happy Travels!

I have been in several bathrooms in Europe over the years with no toilet paper (once in Florence where street people had stolen all the rolls and were selling it back outside the entrance), so I always carry a small pack of tissues for these possibilities. And have had to use them! Of course often in the US, too, but this video is international-related.

Your suggestions of the backpack strap Bernardo jacket, Ecco water resistant shoes, and Nordstrom merino wool and cashmere sweaters were spot on for my trip to London and Paris. I just returned and thought about you every day of my trip! Thank you so much!

Hi, Laurie! I second the clothing detergent sheet! No liquid, no waste, no mess!🌻

Laundry detergent sheets. I’ve used them in Europe as well as in Hawaii where I was washing things out daily. They work great and don’t have to worry about liquid restrictions.

I love the jacket. It would be so handy to not have to keep up with it when I am not wearing it.
For toilet paper, I just take one pocket pack of tissues in my bag. If I’ve depleted those on the trip, I’ll just use what’s in my hotel room and put a day's worth of toilet paper in a baggie.

After visiting Japan what I can tell about packing for the travel is that literally you need "nothing" in advance, just take yourself to the plane 🙂

Love that puffer jacket. Wish it folded up within itself but I bet I could have a compression bag in the pocket 🤔❤

I take a lot of meds and I do not bring them in their bottles. I use a pill organizer . I also take pics of each med bottle on my phone in case I am asked. I have traveled internationally a lot and have yet to be questioned about my meds. And I agree Laurie, it is important to bring adapters with usb outlets as some hotels are older and usb outlets are few. I also suggest that if you can leave your hairdryer home and use hotel dryer it cuts down on appliances and space in your luggage! And I wear the Dr Scholl compression socks that you wear and they are fabulous for airplane. I am a diabetic and they are perfect for my feet and legs! Great vid as always!

Hello Laurie. Just back from a 3 week tour of Europe. I used so so many of your hacks and tips while packing for this trip. I have been using packing cubes for some time but I moved to compression cubes which were a game changer. The cubes were the best as we were actually living out of suitcases and often found ourselves in a different hotel each night. Kept us organized....especially my husband. I also was worried about pic pockets and a friend also warned us of this. I took your recommendation and purchased the clips to put on zippers of my backpack and sling bag. Worked great. The kit I ordered came with various sizes and quite a few so was able to share with family members who joined us. Even your ideas of packing and to layer outfits was great and I invested in some great walking shoes that went with everything. Thank you for your tips and tricks as it made this trip and packing so easy. I recommend your channel often. I even shared with my sister in law and she picked up a few tips as well for this trip!

Thank you for all the info. Been out of the game for 13 years and finally got a new passport. Worked for an airline and I am finally ready to travel out of the country because of YOU❤. Even going to apply to PRE check etc. the best was the Sunflower 🌻 program and the extra help from TSA. 🙏 THANK YOU

Lake Como! ❤ Our family (3 teens) rented Casa Margherita 2 through Home Away on the eastern edge of town from a lovely couple! Ten years later, our daughter and her friends rented the same apartment.

I returned a few weeks ago from a 10 day trip to Italy and honestly stressed for months about what to pack in my carryon and my personal item bag. I spent a lot of money on different items and at the end of the day, in reality, I didn't really need many of them. But, I do thank you for the suggestions. I will keep them in mind for future trips.

Laurie, could you do a test on the phone straps for preventing your phone from being snatched out of your hands while taking pictures. This happened to us this summer in London ( we still have our phone) just a few bruises and scratches but we won 🙌🏻 I saw a lot of people using them.

A few weeks ago I watched one of your videos where you talked about the water resistant pants that you mentioned in this video. Because they came in petite size, I ordered a navy and dark gray pair. Even with Amazon Prime, only one pair came in time to take on our Mediterranean cruise. I love them! I wore them on the day we went to the beach in Nice, France, where the water splashed up getting on my pants, but they dried super fast and were perfect for the day! I may have to buy them in some different colors. So comfy, they fit my 5’2” frame perfectly (petite)and I love the zipper pockets.
You briefly touched on bathrooms in Europe. My experience has been that they are usually very clean but you will probably have to pay .50€ to use public toilets. It would be a good idea to have tissues on hand because one place we were at in Portugal or Spain, it free to use them but if you wanted to use toilet paper, that cost.50€. 😝
Thanks for all the advice you give!

Hey Laurie! I just got a pair of the water-resistant pants. Was surprised at how lightweight they are. Will definately need to wear something underneath them in the cold! They are very comfy!!
