I wish I'd known about these hidden animals when playing Zoo Tycoon. Are there any you didn't know about?

This is a re-upload of the original video where I forgot to mention some of the scenarios that unlock a few of the animals. See if you can notice the flawless audio cuts.

This brought be back to the time I discovered the mermaids completely by accident after placeing the statue in a dolphin enclosure. To this day it's my favorite Easter egg in any game ((:

I remember discovering the Mermaid by accident. I tried to place random things inside the tanks, like giant clams, treasure chests. My kid mind was blown when a mermaid statue turned into a mermaid.

I remember I got excited as a kid when I accidentally unlocked the mermaid, because I thought there were more animals that could be unlocked through placing statues in exhibits, such as the diver. Needless to say I was disappointed.

this game is so nostalgic. memories of my dad excitedly showing my sister and i around his zoo, spending hours watching him build elaborate marine tanks and talk about fun facts he knew off the top of his head about each animal. if i recall correctly i think he even made some mods? such as different brightly colored little fish and shark tunnels that you can actually put in actual tanks, that sorta thing. that mightve been my excited kid brain tho lol. point is that i really appreciate these videos; i just moved out on my own for the first time, halfway across the country. rediscovering this old game has been helping cure my homesickness immensely.

Great video, but I definitely think that there are at least one or two more secret hidden/unlockable animals. For example the Yeti, which you can get by naming an exhibit "Kathmandu". And probably at least one more than that :)

I discovered the mermaids while deciding to make an underwater decoration exhibit since I thought it would be cool. I was so confused when the statue exploded and Ariel appeared from the rubble.

I also THINK I knew about the unicorns, but I never got to have them in my zoos because I had no idea how to spell Xanadu back then and I was too stubborn to ask my parents. Good times

I went on a mini hyperfixation on this game recently and can't stop playing, please make more videos about it or even just let's plays, cuz I love it 🙏

When I found out these codes when I was a kid, it was just the coolest thing! I was fond of making mixed Deinosuchus/saltwater croc exhibits. I even had a classmate who would call me to ask what the cheats were again. This was before we knew what Discord was. Or Skype. Or MSN.

Also had no idea you could permanently unlock the Triceratops by clearing a scenario!

If you have dev menu, you can spawn male mermaids, who use the same skin and AI. This allows mermaids to breed like normal, but their children come out with a full adult skin as well, since there's no child skin for mermaids.
