This was just a fun video I, Terry Whin-Yates did for a presentation at a local business group. I opened a new locked Electronic Sentry Safe in seconds with a Rare Earth Magnet with 300 lbs of pull.

Since this video was first made Sentry Safe has made some modifications to the newer Electronic Sentry Safes to make it slightly more difficult to open but not by much. Also, lots of workarounds. Sentry Safe seems to make a good Fire Resistant box for the money but be aware of the security limitations.

These models have a secondary cylinder key, which you did not engage. I assume if you did, this method would fail. Any insight on how much extra security the cylinder key provides?

I picked up a sentry safe from a garage sale but it didn't come with keys or the combination. So it's very similar to the one that you have on this video. So I ordered an earth magnet but for the life of me haven't been able to open it. Is it possibly that the cylinder key lock won't allow it to open with just the puck magnet?
The only difference between the safe you're demonstrating and the one I got is that yours has some kind of USB port and mine doesn't
Any ideas?
