= Just because there isn't a patuki (a type of cloth) in a chaubandi (also a type of cloth) 

पखेरीमा घाँस काट्न जान्या छैन भन्दैमा 
= Just because you can't cut grass at a pakheri (steep land) 

मलाई नेपाली हैन भन्न कहाँ पाइन्छ 
= You do not have the rights to call me 'You are not a Nepali' 

म त नेपालको माया गर्ने छोरी 
= I am a Nepal Loving Daughter 

मलाई म जस्तै माया चाहिन्छ 
= I need love just like me 

गाँजलु टिकी राम्रै लाग्छ लाउने बानी छैन 
= I like the eyeliner-made tika (a kind of decoration mark made on forehead) but I don't have the habit of wearing it 

मेरो लाउने बानी छैन 
= I don't have the habit of wearing it 

गोठाला र मेलापातमा धाउने बानी छैन 
= I don't have the habit of going towards sheds and melapat (a large gathering of people at a field to do some work)

= I don't have the habit of going there 

उकाली र ओराली भो नहिडेंको बाटो 
= The uphills and downhills are the unwalked paths 

तर प्यारो लाग्छ मलाई मेरै देशको माटो 
= But I still love the soil of my country
