I have coloured, curly hair and my life has been completely changed by following the curly girl method. Any shampoo/conditioner/styling product with sodium laurel sulphates (the thing that makes the product foam, it’s in toothpaste, shower gel, face wash etc) and/or silicones has been banished from my beauty stash. My scalp is never itchy or greasy anymore, my hair has shine that I never got with my old products and the curls are healthier than ever. It’s not easy to find such products since almost every drugstore and luxury brand has sls and silicones but I would recommend it for any hair type. You stop needing the corrective products (i.e. you don’t need a serum to give shine or reduce frizz because those problems are gone).

If anyone is interested just google curly girl method. Not all of it is necessary for people with other hair types but I firmly believe there’s a whole world of hair care education out there which has already happened for skin care. For the products check out Boucleme or Shea Moisture or basically anything in the Boots section for afro-caribbean haircare.

Hello gorgeous Ruth!! OK I think the Kevin Murphy 'Plump It Up' Wash and Rinse is actually UNREAL!! As well as a touch of the 'Again' Thickening Lotion. The scent alone is worth trying, but the results are pretty amazing, your hair just feels young again. Not that being young again is the answer but its pretty flipping good!! XOX From Ireland

My hair is curly, thinning (another joy of getting older!), colored/highlighted and I live in a cold climate - all things that combine to do a number on my hair, and it had been looking so fried. I recently tried three products from Beauty Pie, Super Healthy Hair Moisturizing and Repair Set - and have to say that they are brilliant. I use the Repair Treatment as Conditioner, as the central heating/cold weather really dry out my hair, and use a small amount of the conditioner as a leave in. My hair has regained elasticity and shine. The price was great too!

I have long, fine hair bleached with highlights like yours and I use Olaplex no. 3 which I love. For Shampoo and Conditioner I use Treseme, for fine hair, or repair etc. I think I have all of them and I rotate. I will definitely give a try to the Olaplex Shampoo and Conditioner since you mention they are so good. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Ruth! Wait until you keep on using Olaplex!! At the beginning I quite like it but some months later it really transformed my hair ❤️. This may not happen to everyone but I also have colored hair (balayage) and my ends were the driest and would always keep any curl, etc when styling because my hair was dry as straw and would just take anything. Nowadays my ends are so healthy that even if they still hold the styling a bit they slip a lot more just like when my hair was non colored! At the beginning I thought I had my tools in the lowest temperature setting but no... just healthy hair! 🙌. It was like the discovery of Liquid gold for my face (the first acid I used thanks to you) but with my hair. A complete game changer! Enjoy!

I was only thinking the same thing the other day. Oh to have a lush mane again 😂My fine hair has been having highlights for nigh on thirty odd years. Having had some menopausal hair loss I miss the days of having a healthier feeling head of hair. Have to say AUSSIE products have been great and the Miracle oil has been brilliant, use it on towel dried hair. Really helps.

Funnily enough I was in John Lewis yesterday and whilst perusing the skin care section, put a bit of a facial oil on my hands (the price was ludicrous and way out of my budget but it’s lovely 😊 ). As I wandered round I ended up just brushing it through my hair ends. Amazing! Just wish I could remember the brand name ....

Thanks for a lovely video.

While I prefer the tangle teezer, my cat has adopted my wet brush and has actually learnt to rub her whiskers into it and do a good massage, which she never did with her own brush! Thankfully I have a spare brush hehe Cats!

Just got one of the Wet brushes: brilliant!! Love the unicorn colab dry shampoo. I have frizzy, fine hair but my holy grail find of the year is KMS tame frizz oil.... Amazing stuff!! 😘😘👌

I have very thick, coarse hair ( non color-treated) and even after moisturising it, the very next day it is back to its "hard" state. So after years and years of struggle I discovered the Lush hair products and I Love their Blousey shampoo ( which I believe is for color treated hair), the R&B hair moisturiser and the Retread hair conditioner. The Cruly Wurly and Coconut Rice Cake shampoos are also good, but I prefer Blousey. Since using those my hair feels so much softer and stays that way till I wash it, which is like every 5 days. As a general rule I avoid SLS and silicones. I also quite love how moisturised my hair feels after using some Indian herbs like shikakai and cassia, but they are quite messy to use...

I have read too many reports online of people’s hair breaking after using Olaplex to ever dare try it. These days I get balayage done with blonde foils a couple of times a year, and semi permanent brown colour for roots/cover greys every 3-4 months, keep the ends trimmed and use good quality shampoo and conditioner (shampure by Aveda seems to do the trick), followed by Moroccan oil and it works a treat. My hair is very similar you yours, both is colour and quality.

My Tangle Teezer got so warped from years of use I had to get rid of it, and it's hard to find that brand Stateside now, so I just bought the Wet detangling brush for children--my hair is fine--and it's wonderful. After over two decades of doing nothing with my hair besides shampooing it every two or three days with a natural shampoo, I have come to the conclusion that brushing has more to do with the health of my hair than anything else, and I am so glad that I could find a good brush. TFP!

Your hair looks really good Ruth, love the length/shaping and colour.  I have fine (but lots of it) curly, colour treated hair and tried either the Olaplex shampoo or conditioner at some point last year, I can't remember which now, and wasn't overly impressed by it - but perhaps I need to use the two in conjunction with each other. The Olaplex product I tried most recently is the No. 6 Bond Smoother, this one was a miss, it wasn't terrible but didn't do much for my hair type.  The big hit for me was the No. 3 Hair Perfector Treatment which I bought a bottle of ages ago, it was really hyped up by bloggers/Youtubers at the time and I half expected to  be disappointed but have to say it lived up to the hype, have been meaning to revisit.

Colab dry shampoo is the best!! Boots had 1/3 off the other week. Not sure if it's still on.
Loving the background 💜

I totally get what you explain in this video the feel of having a bit of weight to the hair. My hair is similar to you but thinner. I also have blonde highlight. Do you think the olaplex shampoo conditionee would be a good match or too heavy ?
