Crashing an Inspire Drone from 400 feet!

My father bought the Inspire on release time, he’s had it for ages, so it’s done hundreds of hours.

He was buying some more gear and not a single store wanted to offer him a trade in, not even R2000 ($120) so he thought why not just crash it for a video.

I know people ask, why not give it to someone, the issue is, a Mavic Air second hand or on special will cost you next to nothing, it’s not only better quality video but safer to fly.

Any person that knows something about video, probably has the cash to get close to purchasing a Mavic Air.

Giving this away for free to a random person, that knows nothing about drones may just crash it and hurt someone as it’s big.

Not all is lost though, the motors are in perfect condition and are being used for a custom drone. 👌

One thing we wanted to make clear was that we set up so many shots to get the crash, it really is NOT easy trying to guess where a drone will land when you cut the motors.

Fortunately, from the 4 cameras on the ground we got 1 decent shot!

You know, there's Arial photographers out there who would beg to even rent one of these beautiful drones, yet some you can smash one into the ground for 4, 000 views. I read the description, but what was the point? "Guys what will happen if we crash a £3000 drone into the ground from 400ft?". Hurts to see.

Poor Inspire 😢
Mine cut out at double the altitude, just switched itself off in mid-air in a hover, started back up as it fell, fought to regain a hover, then hit a tree and fell to the ground. Very tragic.
It had an X5 mounted, which got pretty trashed mechanically (gimbal shafts bent and cracked sort of thing) but is repairable and still semi-functional. The drone on the other hand didn’t even break. One of the landing gear springs broke, leaking oil all over the landing foot, and the props got shredded to pieces, but everything else appears intact. It is quite a tank, and I got quite lucky. After getting very unlucky.

Could have done a give away. Would have gotten more views, more subscribers and a lot less hate for puposley crashing a good expensive drone that none of us could probably afford

It was interesting to see that the drone decided to try to recover, even though it was not a given instruction from the controller and then decided to cut the motors right before landing. I wonder why it picked a specific altitude to try to recover and, did not try in the first place. It is kind of crazy to think that DJI equipped these drones with something like their own self preservation, even if the controller is basically telling it to crash. Anyways it was hard and somewhat painful to watch an inspire fall. And I hope that the inspire could be repaired, it would be a fun repair. Good job on the video!
