Arkansas Sen. Flowers makes another plea against 'Stand Your Ground' bill

In 2019, Arkansas State Senator Stephanie Flowers took a passionate stance against a "Stand Your Ground" bill that ultimately failed. A similar bill made its way out of committee today after Flowers and others voiced their concerns on the bill.

It's not always that simple R Roy I'm from Kansas City Mo and I had a man stop his truck and get out with an assault rifle, forcing me onto the side walk and it was not a side walk where I was walking. I had a cart full of food I'm glad my children were not with me; How am I suppose to push a cart full of food through the dirt and mud. Obviously he should not have had that weapon but he did and they call it killa city all my friends are dead killed before 16 from gun violence. I've lost my brother and 4 cousins to this city all killed before 21. So mental health and stronger gun laws is important, the gun in the streets are like rashes in these cities.

Sb24 is problematic due to the language according to GO-AR, language in the bill is dangerous. I would have to agree with them although for different reasons. My problem with the bill is it gets rid of the duty to retreat. You are not qualified to use deadly force without the duty to retreat.
