My mission statement is to be as self sustainable as possible with the space I have. I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes and dangerously high cholesterol and have to change my diet, or my 2 young children may have to live without their father. That is an absolutely unacceptable outcome. The cost of healthy eating has gone through the roof. So, instead of letting inflation get in the way, I'm gonna do something about it now. I have always loved gardening, but now it is going to help save my life, and hopefully teach my children that not only is eating healthy important, but so is self sustainability. I plan to be there to help them learn that!

On a side note, I love the videos you create. You are an inspiration and your time and efforts are appreciated more than you know, Huw 🙂

My mission statement in the garden is to also think about my neighbors. "Share my garden's abundance" This is why I bought more seeds than I should, and thinking of the kind of veggies they will also like and appreciate. I'm also expanding the garden because it's not only for my husband and me but also others. I have a neighbor who is in her 90's, and living alone. I saw how much she appreciated the freshly picked veggies. It made me happy to see her so happy, so I intended to supply her all her veggie needs. I work in a hospital and my co-workers get some share of my veggies as well. I just love sharing the blessings from my garden. Especially now that the price of food is rocketing.

My mission statement would be. “Just do it.” I try to plan but then “squirrel” happens. I’ve been planning my veg garden for 2 years now. I can plan with the best of them. It’s implementing them that gets me. So this year I’m going to fly by the seat of my pants. Kinda of like a no pressure type gardening. I’ll let you know how that turns out. Here’s to a great 2022 growing season. Coming to “yinz” from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

My Misson statement for this year is to have on thing on the table from the garden every single day of the year. Be it fresh, pickled, frozen or dried.
I'm a veteran gardener but starting a brand new garden this year after having moved houses. Instead of a 200m2 allotment, I now have 15000m2 of my own land, and I'm so excited for the new season with veg, fruit, chickens, ducks and sheep!
PS. New book is preordered and I can barely wait for it ❤️

My mission statement is to grow my first cutting garden. Gradually I will add vegetables. I have lettuce seedlings in the ground along with bachelor buttons, both seeded directly in 8b Central Texas. I am in the process of germinating scabiosa, snapdragons, and a few others. My husband wants garlic, but I have to plant that in fall. I am growing a special rosemary for him now.
Unfortunately I cannot turn compost because I'm 74 and have a back problem, but I have a good source locally.
My mantra is if you cannot do everything, do something.

Nice, I'm expanding my garden again this year, and as I get older, I plan on gradually adding tall raised beds so that I can garden longer and easier.

I think all of these steps are so relevant to every gardener wherever they live or what their particular gardening passion is. Love it! Thanks so much Huw for letting me join in this video and for your support! 😃

Thanks for all the tips shared. My mission statement will be chosen to tackle a specific weakness of mine i.e ‘analysis paralysis’ 😬I’ve incoparated some other points you shared from other videos too
2022 Garden mission statement: Be present. Enjoy what’s here right now. Dreams are ok but don’t live only in your head. The harvest is just a part of the ride not the destination.
I want to:
1.See-Nature’s colors
2.Hear-Insects buzzing around
3.Touch-Airy climbing plants
4.Smell-Herbs and compost
5.Taste-Sweet summer snacks
6.Feel-Invigorated

Huw you are a life saver! We love your videos. We have no clue about gardening but an 8 year old little girl who is passionate about nature and growing. So we've got our first allotment for her, and we all ( brothers 6, 4 3) plod up there and try our best. She takes notes on your you tube videos and we all learn together.

Our statement: to enjoy together and save shopping bills !

In July of 2021, I moved from the NJ East Coast in the US to the Arkansas Ozarks in South Central US. My mission statement this year is to establish a strong foundation, or infrastructure of gardens that I can build upon for the future. It’s February 2022, but I’ve already got 3 metal raised gardens filled with rotting logs and branches at the bottom and composted soil. I have a compost pile with sawdust, chicken manure, leaves, shredded cardboard and paper, food scraps, coffee grounds, etc. I have 10 acres of woods with 2 acres in front that have been thinned out. It’s such a pleasure to have this huge space to work with. Thank you, Huw, for your many videos filled with valuable gardening information. I also have your excellent book "Grow Food For Free".

My mission statement is, "keep it simple" because we are starting from scratch on a new, very sandy plot. This was just what I needed today!

My mission statement for this year is to make sure I always have a steady stream of seedlings ready to plant when a gap is available. And thank you for the hilarious moments inserted in the video! Your “promo” clip worked :) I’ve just pre ordered your book! Looking forward!

Huw, great to see you on this Friday morning! Our mission statement this year to is transition from 'grown, harvest, eat' to 'grow, harvest, preserve, eat'. It will be a season of learning and we are excited to begin as our temperatures are warming up outside. As always, thanks for sharing! (Kentucky, USA)

My mission statement this year was to start. I was overwhelmed with compost/gardening prices and time. After watching the best explanation of composting on this channel, I jump into action because price wasn’t an issue anymore! I’m one week into creating my own composting setups. One hot compost that I have turned twice. I was shocked at how quickly the smell and look of the pile changed!!!! I have a second compost started where I want my garden beds, and I started laying out newspaper and cardboard in between my beds to create my lazy compost sections. Even if I don’t get anything in the ground this year, I’ll be set up for a great garden next year! Very thankful for your videos 🙏🏾❤️

My mission statement, for I start my very own very first gardening year just now, is to have the healthiest and happiest vegetables in my garden. To see them smiling at me when I arrive.😀That is what makes me happy and excited.😊

Excellent tutorial for beginning gardeners. An 8th step that one might consider is to find a mentor to provide some guidance. Even after nearly 70 years of gardening, one the things I enjoy most is working with young gardeners to develop their skills. Watching them grow in knowledge is a reward in itself.

"Enjoy the process". It is truly a blessing to be able to follow along for the ride a growing season is.
