What Trump + Greenland means for football

Greenland wants to have a FIFA-recognised international football team. However, FIFA rules state that a nation must be independent in order to be FIFA-recognised. Yet, there is a way around it.

Enter Donald Trump.

Why does Greenland, with a population of 55,000 and only one week of suitable weather for football, want to be FIFA-recognised? And more importantly, why is the President of the United States so interested?
