known naming conventions (maybe specific to java but what I know)

all caps = the variable is a constant and should not be edited
camalcase = variable names
camal case with capitol first letter = classes or function names
lowercase and underscore/dash for spaces = file names

these are the one's I know but there could be, and probably are, more

I'm all for descriptive variables, I had someone on stack exchange demeriting me for it, but it's what I do unless it's a local variable in a function like i in a loop that's just counting numbers.
