Показать описание

The Tenth instalment of a "slow tv" style film about attempting to build a traditional frame building known in Norway as a "Grindbygg". While the quarantine continues I will be designing and building, using some stock materials and some harvested materials. A fast pace high-lights film will come after this video-log series is complete however long that takes.

Totally fascinated by your channel for quite some time now. Your methods and designs are new to me and most Americans I presume. Please continue making releases of your work.

This is very inspiring. Makes me want to sharpen my chisels and get to work on a few projects in my head.

Slow tv? Yes very slow but so interesting! I love to see your craftsmanship. Not only in this video but also in previous other videos. We live in the Netherlands in a from Finland imported loghouse we build 33 years ago. Still every day enjoying the atmosphere. We were in Denmark, Sweden en Norway several times and enjoyed the surroundings and especially the wooden houses old and new. We planned a trip this year in june and july. Covid 19 makes it impossible I'am afraid, a pity but a luxury problem I We will continue to enjoy your videos!!

It's always interesting to see the talents of those who "figure it out" as they go...Combining what seems (?) like several layout modalities to get the job done...You are correct about the template in some regards except traditionally this would have all been story pole, divider work, and templates in the Norwegian since..." Line Rule" was part of some traditions too though but the details lost to time in most (not all) Western European traditions of the Timberwright...A student sent this link to me today, and I will enjoy watching more of your work...

Looking good. I was a bit nervous when you stood it up, that it would tip and fall on your car!

The accuracy part is spot on, be accurate when its totally necessary. Paint scraper doubles as a hammer, a tool is only what the wielder make of it, same for the chain saw. Loved the tool box break down, I run a similar box, and know the fear of cutting myself by digging in the box for something, good to dump it out from time to time. Some day I will try a full length post where the root is the brace, half the mortice work!

Nice work Lucas! Me and a friend are planning a 5m x 5m grindbygg in the Trondheim area this summer. It is nice to see your method.

Nice work, always impressed with your precise chainsaw work, pup not withstanding! I’ve seen mortised knee braces like yours in other timber frame structures, but not in grindbygg before. Till now only lap jointed diagonal braces in grindbygg. Are the root knees traditional as well or your adaptation. Either way very structurally sound.
