Im confused, in my lessons we always do the sine term divided by the cos term because tan=sin/cos. What is the rreason for this being B/A

I thought that the question says to express your answer in the form Rsin(x-a) (I can't write theta or alpha), but it seems like you've just stated the constants R, x and a. Would they not want it expressed in the form stated in the question? Do they want you to substitute the constants into Rsin(x-a)?

So, despite what the question says, you don't actually have to write it out in the form Rsin(x+a)?

I did this, but why do you get the mark for working out R if it is not needed in working out alpha? (what the question asked)
