The (Potential) Problem With Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom

By now it's no secret that at SDCC 24 during Marvels Hall H Panel it was announced that former Iron Man star, Robert Downy Jr., would be taking over the iconic character Victor Von Doom. Though many MCU fans were excited, a lot were wondering how RDJ was going to lose the Tony Stark facade and become Dr. Doom. Some feel this is a cash grab by Marvel brass and the Russo Brothers, but other think this could be an interesting turn for a floundering MCU. Can Robert Downy Jr. pull off one of the most iconic villains in Marvel Comics history? Only time will tell.

What made the movies up to End Game so great is we've been wanting a connected universe with super heroes and teaming up to fight a bigger threat. The MCU finally gave that to us. But then they also made every character an iron man clone with funny quips, only they weren't as good as the original. They should have ended it at End Game. This just smells of desperation

Don’t get me wrong, RDJ is my favorite actor, but I feel like Marvel has become desperate and I’m pretty worried, considering they ditched the Kang storyline because Jonathan Majors got in trouble with the law and Quantumania flopped. I just hope they at least do the character justice because the previous live action adaptations of Dr Doom were underwhelming.

Dr. Doom in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is still the best non- comic version of the character so far. Really wish they kept that show going.

It seems like they should've treated him like Darth Vader. Get a great voice actor with a deep commanding sound, and a big tall guy to wear the suit.

There are so many things wrong with the MCU right now that should be an easy fix: focus on their characters and tell their stories the right way. RDJ shouldn't have been brought back as anyone but an Iron Man variant. Him as Doom makes absolutely no sense, no matter how you twist it.

Last year, Guardians 3 reminded people why they loved the MCU in the first place and Deadpool & Wolverine is already breaking records, I don't understand why Marvel feels the need to be desperate right now.

I was hoping that Deadpool & Wolverine would break the multiverse and introduce the X-Men to the MCU. Neither of those happened. Marvel is determined to drive this into the ground

It took me a few minutes to process that this wasn’t Marvel trolling like they usually do. Honestly, a better and even PERFECT idea to bring him and other actors back would be to bring the Supreme Intelligence back! The Supreme Intelligence takes the appearance of whoever the viewer admires meaning they can be played by anyone! I don’t care that Carol killed them. We’re in the Multiverse era; they can have their own variant. Maybe they know they’re doing and it’s not desperate. We have two more years to figure it out
