What are you building out your MVP to do? Evan breaks down what exactly makes one viable. Accept no alternatives.

Product isn’t a version one, prototype, nor in any way shape or form be designed to stand as a finished work. All MVPs have to do is successfully collect information to validate or invalidate your idea. We’ll write that again, on its own line, so that it’s more dramatic:

All MVPs have to do is successfully collect information to validate or invalidate your idea.

The information that provides this validated learning is a show of interest or commitment. The easiest way to make users demonstrate that is with a buy button. Other forms and surveys may work as well, depending on your product. But as long as your MVP can do measure interest, congratulations! You’ve made something (minimally) viable.
