When I was young I never thought about tree safety. Now that I'm 59 I use a harness and safety strap while hanging stands and once the stand is up all my stands have Lifelines for climbing and climbing down. I'm always hooked to the tree because you just never know....I know lots of guys fall asleep in their stands and have almost fell out but their harness saved them. I know a guy that a couple of years ago he climbing in a old stand that they hadn't put new straps to secure it to the tree and it fell while standing there. He hit the ground but luckily he only sprained his ankle but it could've been much worse! I really like your videos, they're real not like the hunting shoes where guys just show up, sit where the outfitter says and shoot a 180 at exactly 5:10 like the buck shows up every day. We just recently had to bury a long time friend and outdoorsman. Terry Lavin was half owner of Hesperia Sport Shop here in Michigan along with his brother Jim.
He went to a long time stand site and during his climb the ladder collapsed.
If you're going to leave a stand long term, be sure to inspect it prior, not the morning of.
You'll be sadly missed old friend, and when you see my friend Rick Bogema who lost his life the same unfortunate way, greet him with a smile. Neither of you will ever be forgotten, and sadly it didn't need to be this way.

Guys, check out cold water boot camp.
Put on some PFD when you are out in the boat. That cold water won't kill ya, but it will make it impossible to swim. That'll kill ya. I know you have a ton of crap to haul around, but being tired, in a good ole flatbottom in a hurry can turn south quick.

I don’t hunt much out of lock ins or climbers anymore either just hunt on the ground or I’ve got box stands.. I normally hunt private being I have that luxury but everyone stay safe and don’t think your to good to use it.. no need to be selfish you have ppl at home that love you and need you.
